TERMINOLOGY
Barcode - The ability to put a bar code
on your form to give it its own unique ID number for easy,
inexpensive and automated access to information. Example
ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition)
- ICR Technology converts handwritten text and numbers into
computer readable data where this information can be processed
into other types of data files. Most common type of use
is for personal, handwritten feedback on surveys. Very labor
intensive but thorough type of data. Example
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) - OCR
converts a machine print copy of your text into an electronic
form your text-based applications can use. This automates
the entry of paper data so that you do not have to do it
all by hand, thus reducing costs and overhead. Example
OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) - Used for the recognition
of optical marks such as checkmarks and fill in bubble formats
used in surveys, ballots, questionnaires and tests. This
is the quickest and easiest type of data to capture. Example
Pre-Slugging - The process of pre-printing
information and data onto specific forms (e.g. names, ID
numbers, dates, etc...) Commonly used to make the scanning
and data collection processes for testing move faster. Example
TELEform™- Is the software suite
that we use to extract and verify your data using ICR/OCR/OMR
technology.
